BOOK LENDING POLICY

LIBRARY
The BIS Library is open to all of its students. All are allowed to read books during their Library personal study/free time or borrow books and take them home. The students of BIS enjoy a fine Library or Information Centre. The objective of our library program is to
enrich, develop and support the educational programmes of the school.

BIS tries to make reading a desirable activity for all children. Our Library / Information Centre rules:

● Students must have all books returned before they are permitted to sign out new books; however, they can always use our books in the Information Centre.
● Textbooks are loaned to students at no charge. Lost textbooks become a financial obligation (refer to book policy). If you have any questions, please feel free to stop by our Information Centre and speak to our Librarian.

Borrowed Books:
● A student is allowed to borrow up to 2 books at a time.
● The borrowed book will be recorded before being taken out of the Library.
● A student is allowed to borrow the book/s for 1 week.
● After this time, they will either return the book or renew it. A student can renew a book twice.
● All prior books need to be returned before new books are taken. Late submission of books will attract sanctions or loss of privileges:
● If a student’s book is one week overdue, they will pay $5 dollars per book.
● If a student’s book is two weeks overdue, they will pay $10 per book.
● After the second week the book will be counted as missing. Missing / damaged Books:
● If a student loses or fails to return a book, the parent/guardian is responsible to reimburse the school for the replacement cost of the book. The cost of replacement will be calculated based on the prevailing market price of the book and the cost of freight. Students who do not return books will not receive their report cards.
