BIS Hosts Career Fair
British International School (BIS) located at East Legon Hills in Accra on Friday, April 27, 2018 hosted a career fair highlighting to students various career options and the requirements.
Invited university students and career representatives from the United Kingdom, United States of America, Canada, Australia and other foreign countries met and interacted with BIS students and shared with them vital information they need concerning their career choices.
Seated before their career counselors, the students asked their foreign guests questions that bothered on their (BIS students) preferred careers and they were aptly addressed.

Head of Admissions at BIS, Madam Florence Owusu, noted that the essence of the career fair was to afford students and parents the opportunity to ask relevant questions pertaining to the students’ interested career.
She explained that BIS is part of the Cambridge Associate Schools and runs the Cambridge International Examinations (CIE) Curriculum.
According to her, “the CIE Curriculum is designed to enable students to become self- reliant and critical thinkers who will think outside the box and apply what they learn into practice in their daily lives”.
She averred that discipline is key to success and that BIS synchronizes Ghana and foreign systems of disciplining students.
Madam Owusu pointed out that there should be reforms in the mode of disciplinary measures meted out to students in Ghana schools because the world is fast developing, hence, the need to adopt best practices elsewhere.
For her part, a Literature teacher at the Upper Secondary and A-Level, Madam Victoria Budu, remarked that the school offers quality international British Curriculum education to enable students to grow and to develop into well-grounded global citizens.
She added that BIS has state of the art buildings and facilities that provide conducive ambience for teaching and learning.
At the event, the Russia government presented a sponsorship package to BIS students to study in Russia.
Beneficiaries will have the opportunity to attend many prestigious universities in Russia and study medicine, dentistry, pharmacy, humanities, mechanical and electrical engineering and other professions.
For every student, 80% of their cost of study will be borne by the Russia government for up to hundred (100) students yearly, and there will be three instructional languages of study for students to choose from.
Students who participated in the event expressed their excitement and revealed that the guidance and the counseling tips they received at the career fair have been very beneficial to them in the pursuit of their chosen careers.
